Embrace the Old......

...is the theme of the first challenge at Simon Says Stamp and Show for 2013. Well, my interpretation of this theme is to create something looking old and vintage and this will always be something *French*
The idea for this project, comes from my adored friend Lilla and she makes the most beautiful projects from fabric. Last week, she posted a book of burlap ( hesian for my english readers) with a bird quotes theme *here* and she also made a video tutorial *here*
I've just finished my version of a burlap book *History of France* Instead of wallpaper, i sewed fabric to the inside book. I've printed vintage pictures to some kind of thermo - transfer paper and ironed them to the inside pages of cotton - fabric. I also stamped on that transfer - paper and ironed on, too.
It's better to explain, when you see the pictures.

Histoire de France

The picture on cover is printed on fabric

The vintage coloured picture is made with thermo - transfer paper ironed to fabric

Left side a printed version - right side stamped on transfer - paper
On top of the right side, i adhered a stamped tag

Right side printed version - left side stamped.
On top of the right side, i stamped pen nips on used teabag *Earl Grey* (:o)

Both sides stamped on thermo - transfer - paper
After ironing, i stamped the quotes on top

Printed version on the left and a handmade bookmark

Thanks Lilla, for this great inspiration (:o)
Hope you like this rough and whimsical look
and
thanks so much, for your very appreciated comments,
i really love to read
xoxo

Elly, your work is always so unique and inspiring. I love this little travel folder. Love the stitching, all of the stamped images, all of the bits of lace and ribbon used to embellish. It's just the coolest piece! Thanks for sharing your beautiful art with us at Simon Says Stamp and Show. <3 Candy
