Going Green

I don't really understand the different between recycling and upcycling, but if it means, to use something that would otherwise be garbage.......yes, that's me (:o)

And here is the making of......

I used different sizes of water - bottles
 Cut the lid of
 Make cuts ....
 ..and shape like a flower

I used a soldering gun to create the holes for bamboo sticks
 Small styrofoam balls
 Cut in half

 Started painting with Gesso
Don't be impatient and let airdry. I used a heat - tool on two flowers and ended with crinkles
 Painted DecoArt Traditions Aquamarine
Next layer is DecoArt Traditions Yellow Iron Oxide
Some stamping with StazOn white ...
 ..and StazOn black
I finished with a layer of DecoArt Traditions Quinacridone Gold
I've mixed Americana Texturizing Medium with DecoArt Traditions Raw Umber....
 ..and painted the styrofoam balls
 Finished with DecoArt Dazzling Metallics
For the vase i've  used one of the leftover bottles
Decoupaged some old book pages on
The outlines are made with a hot - glue - gun
Painted with Aquamarine, Yellow Iron Oxide and finished with Metallic Lustre
 These flowers don't wither (:o)

Put some rocks to the bottom of the vase for more stability

Hi Elly, well what an inspiring project and a wonderful unique piece of recycling. Lovely to see such a wonderful piece created from such simple things that everyone of us has available. I love how you created the flowers and added colour and stamping with paints and inks. The bottle is a fantastic transformation and adding texture with a glue gun is amazing. Absolutely love this idea which you have created to perfection. Thanks so much for joining in the Simon Says Stamp and Show Challenge. Tracy x x

These flowers are amazing Elly. I love all the layers you've used in order to create them. I was expecting to find metal cans had been used! Will now be saving plastic bottles. . . . and I never understand the difference between re and up cycling either!
