Did you ever thought about painting felt? It's tricky but possible if you dilute the acrylic paint.
I used the felt you see underneath the purse. I think it's 2 or 3 mm thick.
First i printed a free template from the internert i found here and used a smaller size as the original.
My template fits A4 size
I sewed the side flaps on with a little twist as the original
Well, here are my used supplies. Everything from DecoArt
First, i painted the felt with Americana Multi Surface Satin white, diluted with a little bit of Duraclear Matte Varnish. After it dryed, i traced the union jack with a pencil.....
..and i've painted all the white parts first with DecoArt Crafters Acrylic Gloss followed by the blue parts with DecoArt Traditions Phthalo Blue and Dazzling Metallics Festive Red for the red parts.
To seal the purse, i applyed DecoPage in a stippling manner. After it all dryed, i used an emery board and sanded the hole purse for a used look and finished with a layer of DecoArt Traditions Quinacridone gold, diluted with water.
Use it as a treat bag, gift bag or send to your friend with some artist trading cards
I hope you have fun designing your own felt purse (:o)
