Christmas Gift - Winter Home - Decor

Hi Crafters (:o)

I know, it's a little bit quiet in my craft - room....but it's tis time of the year when i have to work most. Right now i'm helping out as sickness cover and i be away on business 12 hours  a day.
Not much time for crafting left.... as i'm mostly falling asleep on my couch when i'm at home

i've created some winter decor as a christmas gift. A pair of ice skates to be precisely. Challenge #4 at The Mirror Crack'd is asking for Recycle/ Upcycle or a Christmas Gift +  DT Call

I started with a template of a boot and wire

I tried to form some *blades*

Cut boots from copper foil and another pair for the back from cardboard

Paint boots as shown. Start with black and white Gesso...

...followed by Media Fluid Acrylic Paint black and white

Seal with Media Matte Medium
Paint the cardboard for the backside the same way.

I stamped on the front with Archival Sepia....

..and i stamped the same flourish with black StazOn on the back

Embossed by hand

Use sandpaper on the front to reveal the embossed area

Round up the foil a little bit at the edges with a spoon

Glue down the *blades* with hot glue and the foil boot on top

Cut off excess of cardboard

Cut holes and embellish with some satin ribbon

Thanks for stopping by my friends and leaving your always appreciated comments (:o)

Altered Eclectic

Hello crafty friends (:o)

How's going? Are you all in a christmas mood already?

I've altered a papermaché vase to fit my recently finished suitcase - table
and i'll join the challenge at *Altered Eclectic* - Anything Goes
as long as it is not a card

Step by Step

First i've cut a hole in the middle

I printed the specimen man from smeared ink onto A4 size vellum, painted the butterflies from the back and adhered the vellum inside the vase. I also painted a layer of Gesso

I've covered the edges with lace

Next i've covered the vase completely with DecoArt Texture Crackle

I also applied Decoart Modeling Paste

I've glued down some flowers and butterflies. The vase then had a paint - treatment with green colours i didn't liked, so i've painted another layer of Gesso to start new....

I've painted some spots with DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic Cobalt Teal Hue and Transparent Red Iron Oxide

On top a layer of Media Black Antiquing Cream as shown in this video by Andy Skinner

Matte Medium was painted from now on...between all layers to seal the paint

Quinacridone Gold applied as a wash

Media Patina Antiquing Cream

Finished with Media White Antiquing Cream

I hope you like this *arty* vase.
