DecoArt DT Tutorial - Chalky Finish Decor - Box & Journal Cover

Hi crafty friends (:o)

Today i want to show you my second project with DecoArt Chalky Finish Decor.
This time i had a play with a small wooden box and a journal cover ( front and back)

My first experiment on wood started with these DecoArt products

DecoArt Americana Decor Chalky Finish *rouge*, *refreshing* and Metallic Lustre *copper kettle*

I used a simple wood box without a primer and applyed the colour *rouge* Let dry...

Sanding to smooth the wood grain

After sanding the wood feels very soft...

Applyed the colour *refreshing* on top and there's nearly no red colour showing through after one layer of paint..

Again..some sanding..

..to reveal the red colour..

Removed the dust with a kitchen towel and found out....

..that the paint starts to shine if you buff it very well (:o)

I then applyed Metallic Lustre around the edges and fixed a red christal ball knob from 7gypsies

Up to the *Journal Cover* and i used the following DecoArt products

DecoArt Americana Decor Chalky Finish *rouge*, *refreshing*, Americana Decor Crackle Medium, Light Satin Varnish, DecoArt Modeling Paste and Metallic Lustre *copper kettle*

I started sanding the covers, then glued down some cardstock which was embossed with the cuttlebug before.

Applyed a layer of the colour *rouge* and after the paint dried, glued down some cut cardstock pieces

Used Modeling Paste with a stencil

Painted again..

Glued down laser cut gears and clock handles from Fernli Designs

Painting again...

More gears for a 3D look and painting again

Applyed Crackle Medium around the edges and on top of some gears. Let dry....

Painted the colour *refreshing*

A little bit sanding on the embossed cardstock and some gears to reveal the red colour..

I then went wild with Metallic Lustre...

Glued down some coloured glass beads

Painted some spots *rouge* here and there and sealed with Light Satin Varnish

Some close up's

Thanks for reading and your appreciated comments
Happy crafting (:o)

xoxo
