Tag Along #23 - Favorite technique

Hello crafty friends (:o) I didn't had much craft time this week, because my daily work took 10 hours a day. There are two more days to go...but...as you know me...i always do a little something..
I just finished a tag - book i've started on monday. Nothing mixed media. It's just the way i love to puzzle a little book, some kinda back to the roots...means scrapping and layering some papers, pictures and a little stamping, too. As you'll see and i hope you're not surprised, that my love stands for vintage at the first place and/but steampunk shortly after.
Randomly Tag Along is asking for our favorite technique. A perfect match (:o)

Does anyone remember *Our Gang* also known as The Little Rascals or Hal Roach Rascals? A series of American comedy short films? I loved that series as i was young and the little girl with the dog on the cover reminds me of that group of poor neighborhood children and their adventures.

Well, i hope you like it and maybe you had a reason to smile, too

Thanks for your appreciated comments

Jeans Button Frame - Industrial Chic

Hello and happy monday dear crafty friends (:o)
I've made another home decor, i want to share with you.

I was searching the internet for industrial chic interior and this frame hit my attention from Kare Design.
I'm hording jeans buttons for a long while now. I always get a spare button at the price tag, when i buy a new pair of jeans, but mostly i don't need to use them....till now.....
Well, you can buy the original frame for 26,99 € / 22,25 GBP / 36,55 USD

or

create a frame on your own, for much less

I started by sanding this cheap cardboard frame

..followed by a layer of Gesso...

..and painted with DecoArt Traditions Artist Acrylic Carbon Black

Sealed the frame with DecoArt Traditions Faux Finishing Medium

What's next? A little experiment
I wanted the shine of DecoArt Texture Glass ( like enamel ) but with a black colour
Is it possible to dye Texture Glass ... black ..without loosing the stickiness? And what do i use?

I used one or two drops black colour with a teaspoon of Texture Glass and left it to dry of night

The exampel with archival ink came out kinda gritty

The exampel with alkohol ink came out red - ish

The exampel with patina became dark grey

This best result: DecoArt So Soft Fabric Paint
Besides, all textures hardened

Next....up to my mixture..no measuring just eyeballing

Maybe 3 (soup spoon) of DecoArt Texture Glass....

..mixed with one teaspoon of DecoArt So Soft Fabric Paint Black

I mixed it very well

My frame was layed down on a wood panel, so that i can carry my frame away when i'm finished and i'm not touching the frame again, untill it's hard cured

Applyed the mixture to the frame

You don't need to hurry.....Glass Texture has a very long dry time

Started with my button layout

A view underneath

Finished my button layout...and left the frame to dry for 12 hours

Did you ever noticed the variety of jeans buttons?
Do you save them now, too?
The picture is a free download iwallscreen
Thanks for your very appreciated attention and let me know, if you make one, too

TIO # 158

Happy friday folks (:o) Today i'm joining the challenge at DragonsDream with their new receipe: The letter L, script and at least one real stamp.

LOOK LIFE is Art

This is another tag without any idea at the beginning. I just gathered some stuff to begin with like Distress Stain vintage photo, Picket Fence and the Distress Reinker broken china for the background. I also took some old ( Catslife Press ) and new stamps ( LaBlanche ) and a few embellishments for inspiration.

With all these stamps, i decided to try a Giant Tag for the first time and started with the background

As the background was finished and dry, i used two different script stamps with Archival Sepia and stamped randomly

Then Distress Ink was applyed with a blending tool in vintage photo and walnut stain around the edges and broken china on the tag to intensify the blue spots

Distressed the egdes with scissors and applyed Distress Ink black soot

I've also cut a backing for the tag from heavy weight chipboard and prepared both with strong sticky tape

I also prepared chipboard pieces with embossed aluminium foil

The first layout looked like this

I decided to use some RubOn - foil from LaBlanche

Used the gold dabber to colour the chipboard pieces
Is anyone else still using the dabber or is it just me?? (:o)

More stamping around the edges and pop dots under the chipboard pieces

The prepared gears i'm using are heat embossed with Distress Embossing Powder *Tea dye* with dots of Glossy Accents and Metallic Lustre *Gold Rush* on top

Hope you like it and maybe you feel inspired to join the challenge

Happy weekend
and
thanks for leaving your appreciated comments
