12 tags of 2014

Happy tuesday, dear crafters (:o)

At the last minute i've managed to create a september 2014 *Tim* tag.

What did i used against *his* advise? Of course, gloss photo paper. Just because i don't own glossy cardstock. I've tried the alkohol and mask version but it didn't worked. Well..my solution for the background was: Using Versamark and a mask, heat embossed with clear embossing powder, coloured the background with alkohol ink caramel and took the embossing powder off with a paper towel and the electric iron.
Instead of using a butterfly die - i don't own anyway - i stamped the butterflies from the Stampers Anonymous Papillion Stamp Set onto alkohol inked glossy photo paper and did a lot fussy cutting.

Enjoy the last day of this month with some butterflies, i guess there are a lot pumpkins coming up on blogland next

Colours of Autumn - Katzelkraft September Challenge

Happy monday, crafters (:o)

While some consider the 21th of September to be the first official day of fall, the 23rd is the day of  the Autumnal Equinox, which eather means Autumn is upon us. Autumn is the time when the sun's angle changes, things become cooler, and all of those beautiful leaves earn a fiery glow before falling.

Katzelkraft is asking for autumn colours for the current september challenge

A step by step for you

The colour range i'm using from the DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics
Diarylide Yellow, Cadmium Orange Hue, Naphtol Red Light, Cadmium Red Hue, Primary Magenta, Dioxazine Purple, Metallic Gold
DecoArt Media Gesso and Media Modeling Paste
Stencil, Ranger Archival Ink Jet Black
Katzelkraft Stamps KTZ 30.01/ KTZ 113/ KTZ 52.01

I've prepared my tag with Media Gesso

Diluted the paint with water

Applied paint to tag

Stamped with Archival black

DecoArt Media Modeling Paste with an old stencil.
I've baught this stencil from a dutch company years ago for wall stenceling.

The Modeling Paste dries nearly clear applied to the Fluids.
Note: You get a different effect, applying the paste to Distress Inks, because the Distress Inks will feed into the paste

I'm using a piece of Cut 'n Dry foam to apply Media Fluid Acrylics Metallic Gold

This is my autumn inspiration for you

Happy crafting (:o)

Altered Suitcase - Table

Happy friday, crafty friends (:o)

Currently i'm busy in my altered wood section and i like to share some finished objects with you

An old and heavy weight ammunitions crate was painted with white chalkpaint...

..and mounted to stool

Vintage image transfer with gel medium

I've glued some paper inside and the lid had a treatment with black chalkboard paint

A while ago, as i've created this suitcase wall...i had one suitcase left...

..which was also mounted to stool

Painted with chalkpaint and antiquing cream

Currently i'm working on two book shelfs, which i want to use as an art display
Hopefully i can show you one finished shelf next week

Thanks for reading and your appreciated comments

Happy weekend

Simon Says: Rock the technique

Happy tuesday, dear crafters (:o)

It's STAMPtember at Simon Monday Challenge and it's all about techniques

Well, i'm not a stamping queen with a lot techniques in my head, but i know how to ask the right questions at YouTube and i've tried a technique called *retiform* ( you maybe already know). I'm glad i'm always making step by step pictures, because my tag ended up covered and what you still see is just a background.
In this case i didn't rock the technique - i'm just showing a technique but that's why i love challenges.
Challenge myself and trying something new.

Step by step

The video about the *retiform technique* here

I used Distress Ink pumice stone and broken china

I used stamps from Stampers Anonymous, Katzelkraft and Inkadinkado

A lot masking with this technique

A copper metal sheet from Spellbinders, embossed with the Cuttlebug (A/C plate) and Spellbinders M - Bossabilities (reversible embossing folder) called Lovely Lattice

Painted with black acrylic paint.....

...and sanded

A *Must have* for every steampunk fan
Spellbinders *Sprightly Sprockets* by Donna Salazar

I've adhered a sheet of copper metal to cardboard.
It was a bit tricky to cut this thick layer with the Cuttlebug and i used the A/B plate with a shim
The metal gear was then painted with black acrylic paint and sanded. A layer of DecoArt Media Antiquing Cream patina and sanded again

...and i've used this stampset

I've coloured the main image with Distress Inks and it's clear heat embossed with Utee
I just noticed, actually i'm using a lot different techniques (:o)

I hope you feel inspired to join the challenge

Be my guest on a Vintage Journey - With a Flourish

Hello crafty friends (:o)
I was very happy to have been asked along to *A Vintage Journey* as a guest designer this month.

Honestly, you can't go on a vintage journey without at least a little bit Tim Holtz

My journey started with a black tag size 8, stamped with the text stamp from the Stampers Anonymous *Papillion* Stamp Set and Versamark - heat embossed with clear embossing powder

The tag was then painted with the Acrylic Paint Dabber *aqua*. After the paint was dry, i've used a baby wipe to take off the paint from the embossed script

A little bit distressing around the edges with Distress Ink for the finish look

The grungeboard flourish was painted with *pitch black* Dabber and a coat of Distress Crackle Paint *rock candy* on top

A little bit *aqua* to match the colour of the tag

Butterflies stamped on acatate

Coloured with alkohol ink *caramel* and *pool*

Stamped with Archival black on kraft cardstock

Easy cutting with the Sizzix Alterations *French Flights*

5 pages of corrugated cardboard, roughly distressed with the Distrezz - it - All from Zutter. The pages are sprayed with Distress Inks in blue and brown colours. Partly heat embossed with embossing powder and painted with the Dabber *aqua* and *gold*

Idea - ology *framed* alpha parts  painted with gold, too

See, even if i love to use acrylic paint i'm also a scrapper and i don't mind to cut paper.
I've glued paper from the *french industrial* stash to the background. Sprayed some ink. A giant tag forms a pocket on the left side for some secrets. I've painted and cut a sheet of Burlap paper from DCWV with the frameworks die. More painted alpha parts to highlight the picture from a meeting of my Boss, favorite artist and Executive Creative Consultant of DecoArt  *Andy Skinner* and me.

Thanks to Vintage Journey for the invite
thank you for being part of my creative outbreaks and leaving your appreciated comments

Happy monday
