SASPC - Winter Special - Industrial / Steampunk

Hi Crafters (:o)

The Winter Special Theme Nov/Dec for SASPC is
with an industrial /steampunk style

Ok...beside some step by step pictures, what else can i explain about my project?
It is inspired by a canadian - irish tv series with an historic background and a lot fictional elements called *Vikings*

...but it's also inspired by the computer game *The Elder Scrolls* Skyrim
The base construction comes from Storm the Castle, who also invented the construction of the Medieval Plague Mask, i've shown in an earlier post here

Step by Step

The stapled cardboard construction is covered with aluminium foil and masking tape on top

Next i've adhered a layer of kitchen roll paper with Decoupage glue. When dry, mounted the next layers of cardboard strips

The horns are a construction of aluminium foil, covered with masking tape, stucked into an empty kitchen roll and glued to the base with the hot glue gun

Next up..more layers of kitchen roll paper and Decoupage glue to the helmet and horns

Defining the helmet, i've glued down another strip of cardboard and halfpearls as rivets

The cardboard strip got a layer of Texture Sand and the helmet was painted with black acrylic paint

The white stuff in the picture above is Kroma Crackle, i've applied for cracks and texture

Next up you'll see some stages of painting.
I started with a wash of Quinacridone Gold on top of the Kroma Crackle, Silver Metallic on the helmet and some drybrushing raw umber, burnt umber and burnt sienna on top of the cardboard strips and rivets

I also painted with black Antiquing Cream on top of the Silver Metallic paint

Defining horns with more washes

Defining the helmet

Well..... i hope you like the wearable helmet
In either case, it's a very cool decoration, don't you think?

Thanks for reading and your appreciated comments
Don't forget to join the challenge at SASPC with your industrial / steampunkish project till the end of december

Now this is awesome sauce! To see the process of construction is incredible. What a transformation and so well done! The cracks and texture on the helmet are wowzers. This horns are such an added bonus and to use the pearls as rivets-genius! Fantabulous.

Thanks for joining in with us at SanDee&Amelies's Steampunk Challenge! Hugz. ~Niki DT
